Barrister and amateur jockey Geoffrey Mason finds his racing life becomes all too close to his working life when a fellow rider is brutally murdered. The prime suspect is Steve Mitchell, but when Mason is reluctant to heed Mitchell's pleas for legal advice he soon finds himself at the centre of a web of threat and intimidation.
