What appears to be an accident in a farm machinery showroom in Cambridge is only the beginning of a nightmare for the police that harks back to the past and an obsession with vengeance. It's not the picture-postcard colleges of Cambridge that call to Detective Inspector Tom Fletcher, but the huddled backstreets & the flats surrounding the landscape of the Fens. It begins when he finds the body of a man half consumed by an agricultural shredding machine, & reaches back into the past - his own & the local police force - before slamming into the present with all the force of the most modern criminal power in the world.
