Abstract
"This is the first major sociological study to document the experiences of men who pay for sex. Samples of 'punters' have been difficult to obtain in the past since paying for sex is a socially discrediting activity about which men are, understandably, very secretive. The authors base their study on a sample drawn from more than 5000 'reviews' of adult personal services posted by men on the internet. Not only has this provided a significant new source of data on an important and under investigated social issue, but the authors argue it represents a significant change in the social organisation of sex work and those who seek and use the services of sex workers."--BOOK JACKET.
