Jean is seventeen and her life is seriously restricted by cerebral palsy - She has lived as normal a life as is possible but has never left home until she goes to spend ten days at Camp Courage - Here she meets Sara, a young woman who rages against the thoughtlessness of those with able bodies - Jean learns much during this camp, so much that her attitude to life changes profoundly.
