Abstract:
The car was once a symbol of US industrial might. But globalisation means big changes for the industry and the people who work in it. Chennai, India: Boniface makes radiator caps which will end up on a US pick-up truck. Globalisation has given him a good job and hopes for the future. West Bromwich, UK: Brian's firm supplies parts for Boniface's radiator caps. He has a niche market -- but he's under threat from both India and China. Tennessee, USA: Theresa makes the radiators for the truck. She loses her job due to global competition. "They're doing what they need to do to survive - but we don't have to like it."
