Summary

A textbook for a research design course for psychology students that Mitchell and Jolly (both Clarion College) says avoids either of the messages of most: that the subject is easy to think much about, and that it is so difficult only trained professionals should attempt it. They tie the principles they explain into the lives of students, and explain the underlying logic so they can apply it elsewhere. Like earlier editions, published between 1988 and 1996, the fourth takes account of feedback from teachers and students, and of such factors as problems student frequently gave wrong answers to and assignments they had trouble completing.
